seems like a random place to ask, but figured maybe someone had a clue since blizzard has NO support what-so-ever...
whenever i try to play wow on my computer, soon as my char gets into the game, i crash instantly, lockup w/ a looping sound, i had this same problem w/ EQ, though not as bad, im thinking its something with my GF4 TI4200 like it was w/ eq, but i really dont know..
any suggestions?

Are all ur drivers up to date? If so, maybe you need an earlier version...

Try backing off on the version of DirectX. Ur card can only do DirectX 7 (I think) so it may have issues with DirectX 9. Just a thought....

really?
what about games that need higher than 7?
I've got 9 and it seems ok...the only real bug I have is in cs: source de_rats. Sometimes when I look in the direction of the fridge, the snow inside just goes acrosse the whole screen, all I see is white. but if I look away, I see the rest of the map normally....

I don't think that new games 'require' directx 9 but can utilize DX9's capabilties. If you run a DX9 game with a DX7 card you will not get all of the graphic quality of the game. I notice it with mine (9600XT - DX8 card) that in HL2 a lot of the textures are not as sharp as they could be.

Ive got a game error question too.. when I try to play call of duty, in the main menu it has like MENU_NEWGAME MENU_LOADGAME and crap.. so I click new game, the bar goes across the screen, then it says "1014 sound files are missing or in bad format." Ive got intigrated sound, and its been messing up recently. My mic jack doesnt work, it had trouble with installing vice city because of sound errors (I eventually was able to install it). I tried installing the game on sunnys computer, and it worked fine.. so the cds arent scratched. I have windows updated, and I re-installed my sound driver, none of which fixed the problem. Any ideas?? Im heartbroken to not be able to play one of my favorite games maybe Ill try putting it on my ghetto-machine

Asus P5GD1 motherboard GeForce PCX 5750 2 x 512 sticks of Corsair XMS DDR 400 Western Digital 80 gb HDD Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz u got all that and integrated sound? well, if you havent tried re-installing, usually thats my first step see if device manager shows the driver is having problems ortherwise, i dont know, see if the sound requirements are greater than what your integrated can do, kinda doubt they would be though i doubt this was of help, but im drunk, and i tried!
